Current state period
What is the Current State?
Most platforms contain a baseline period that reflects recent network changes that were not yet incorporated into the most recent sales data. This period is called "The current ttate " and represents the most up-to-date version of the network.
How is the Current State used?
The Current State period is a copy of your most recent baseline period, including openings & closures and certain location characteristic changes (e.g. recently opened locations will be indicated as mature locations) since the last date of your sales period.
This Current State period is primarily used in Location Planning to run simulations that reflect the most recent state of the network, allowing users to analyze different simulations based on the latest real adjustments.
Keeping the Current State Up to Date
If new real network changes occur during the year, users with the "baseline manager" or superuser role can update the Current State through the data management module. This ensures that all simulations are built on an accurate and up-to-date representation of the network.
Relationship Between Future State and Current State
- The Current State is used for predictive modeling and reflects the latest known network conditions.
- The Future State builds upon this and incorporates expected changes to support optimization efforts.
By maintaining both Current State and Future State, users can ensure that simulations in the planning and optimisation section take account of both current realities and future expectations.
